Congressman Brett Guthrie voted Thursday, March 8, 2012, in favor of H.R. 3606 -- Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act. This legislation, which passed the House with strong bipartisan support, removes government barriers to help startups and entrepreneurs get off the ground, access capital and create jobs.
"Believing in the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of Americans is what has made our country great and sets us apart," Congressman Guthrie said. "I have consistently said the solution during these tough economic times is for the government to get out of the way of America's hardworking and creative individuals. The JOBS Act will restore opportunities for America's primary job creators - small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs. This is a game changer for companies that are searching for ways to raise the money they need to hire and expand."
The World Bank's annual Doing Business report found that the U.S. fell to number 13 in ranking for "ease of starting a business.' The JOBS Act combines six bills, most of which have already garnered overwhelming bipartisan support and improves access to capital markets for small companies by reducing the cost of going public.
"This legislation shows the American people we can work together to support America's small businesses and entrepreneurs to create jobs and get our economy moving." Congressman Guthrie said.
