U.S. Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) today criticized the proposed cuts to TRICARE under the FY 2013 Defense Department budget. The cuts would increase health care fees for active duty military families and eligible veterans.
"I'm disappointed with the Defense Department's proposal to raise health care costs for active duty military families, retirees and veterans," said Senator Brown. "These cuts damage the sacred trust we have with our service members who put their lives on the line for the rest of us. It is wrong to ask our men and women in uniform to shoulder this burden. Balancing the budget is going to require hard choices. I suggest we start down that path by cutting the health care benefits for the government's civilian employees, including all the members of Congress and their staffs."
