Values

Supports the repeal of ObamaCare to end, in my opinion, a massive government takeover of the health care industry.

Believes in health care coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
ObamaCare places unreasonable and restrictive demands on states, which are already facing significant budgetary challenges. Requirements, such as the addition of thousands of beneficiaries to the Medicaid rolls in the upcoming years, along with stringent mandates such as maintenance of effort, will only place additional pressure on state budgets.

Believes in a long-term solution for the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. The SGR formula was established to limit the increase in spending for doctors' services that the Medicare fee schedule alone would not cover. The intent of the SGR system was to be a restraint on total spending for Medicare. However, having never been implemented, the system is not effective as evidenced by Congress's innumerous short-term "fixes" to the SGR formula.

Opposes unreasonable requirements for businesses that may ultimately result in more employers releasing employees from their health care plans. The Administration has already released hundreds of waivers to businesses that have proven they cannot currently meet the law's demands.

Actions

Introduced the State Compact Health Choice Act of 2011(H.R. 1915), which would allow states to enter into compacts in order to offer health insurance across state lines. This policy could have the potential effect of generating more competition among health insurers and provide consumers with more options.

Voted to support the Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act (H.R. 2), which would effectively repeal ObamaCare.

Supports the Fairness in Medicare Bidding Act (H.R. 1041), which would end the Medicare competitive bidding program for durable medical equipment and prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS). While I generally support competitive bidding processes, the DMEPOS program has harmed those that depend on durable medical equipment.

Supports the Health Care Waiver Fairness Act of 2011 (H.R. 984), which would expand the waiver process to allow all citizens and employers to apply for an exemption from joining the mandated ObamaCare health plan.
Supports the Patients' Freedom to Choose Act of 2011(H.R.605), which would allow individuals to use their flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts to buy over-the-counter medications without a prescription. ObamaCare put in place burdensome requirements that individuals need a prescpription to be able to purchase over-the-counter medications, like Tylenol, with their flexible spending and health saving accounts.

Supports H.R. 1370, which would repeal provisions of ObamaCare that impose an annual fee on health insurance providers. If it is not repealed, this annual fee, or Health Insurance Tax, would result in approximately 125,000 to 249,000 lost small business jobs around the country.
