Rus RUSS CARNAHAN RE: OMNIBUS APPROPRIATIONS BILL, ONGOING NEGOTIATIONS OVER PAYROLL TAX CUT AND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT EXTENSIONSSTATEMENT OF RUSS CARNAHAN RE: OMNIBUS APPROPRIATIONS BILL, ONGOING NEGOTIATIONS OVER PAYROLL TAX CUT AND UNEMPLOY

In response to passage of a bipartisan compromise omnibus appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2012, and ongoing negotiations over extension of the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits, U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan (MO-3) issued the following statement: eg

"I'm encouraged to see progress on bipartisan negotiations to fund the government and I am looking forward to voting on this today so we can focus on the important task before us -- finding a compromisee and ending the threat of increased taxes on working families. Any compromise bill to extend this year's payroll tax cut and extend unemployment benefits should find an honest balance that doesn't play politics with our clean air and water laws, or put the burden on our middle class."
