Governor Bobby Jindal released the following statement today following the Board of Secondary and Elementary Education's (BESE) approval of K-12 education funding:
"I applaud BESE for approving an MFP that maintains our commitment to K-12 education, while also ensuring that local dollars are funding the education of local taxpayers' children. This approval means that dollars will follow the child to whatever educational option their parents -- not government -- think is best. BESE took a courageous stand today in making this happen for Louisiana families."
"Additionally, the state's application for an ESEA waiver, which was submitted today, will help reduce red tape and we look forward to a quick response from the U.S. Department of Education."
