Matheson Votes to Keep Tax Cut for Working Utahns

Press Release

Date: Feb. 17, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jim Matheson today voted for a bipartisan agreement that prevents taxes from going up for about one million working Utahns. Matheson voted for H.R. 3630, which extends the payroll tax cut through the rest of the calendar year, providing the average Utahn an additional $1,100 in 2012.

"As the economic recovery continues to take hold, today's vote ensures that Utahns won't suddenly see a bite taken out of their paychecks. More money in their pockets means more confidence as consumers, which helps support Utah businesses and the economy as a whole," said Matheson.
