Many of our nation's seniors depend on Medicare and we can no longer let politicians in Washington refuse to recognize that this important health program is going bankrupt. In order to avoid disruptions in benefits for current seniors, those near retirement, and to save the program for future generations, serious reforms must be enacted. House Republicans are working together to address these issues and save Medicare for the future.

In the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which President Obama signed into law on March 23, 2010, the President tasked a panel of 15 unelected bureaucrats to find ways to cut Medicare for current seniors, while failing to save the program for future retirees. I oppose this panel and instead support policies that will ensure that Medicare will be available for our children and grandchildren. It is time to work together on both sides of the aisle to produce a plan that protects Medicare for future generations.
