"As our nation recovers from the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression, President Obama has proposed a budget that is a reflection of an economy on the rebound--making investments that support teachers and education, job creation and infrastructure projects. The President's proposal also ensures the promise made to seniors by preserving the Medicare guarantee, while working to live within our means.

Important to the Central Coast, the President's budget makes investments in the USDA to support research and efforts to combat destructive pests that threaten crops, as well programs that promote American farmers at home and abroad. In addition, this budget funds crucial veterans programs that are helping our Central Coast veterans connect with the services they need.

I look forward to working on the President's proposal with my colleagues on both sides of the isle to move forward with a budget that creates jobs, preserves the Medicare guarantee and gets our fiscal house in order."
