Our nation's economy would be stronger if we had energy policies that make sense: we need to conserve, use energy more efficiently, and stop importing so much oil from foreign sources. In Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, energy production -- of nearly every kind -- means jobs. We have abundant supplies of natural gas and coal. Solar energy is playing an increasingly important role.

We must develop our energy supplies wisely and responsibly. We can drill while protecting our air, water and communities. The key is balance. When our priorities and values are out of balance we all suffer. I'm proud of my work in the Colorado legislature, supporting initiatives like the Clean Air Clean Jobs Act; and increasing Colorado's energy portfolio standard to one of the strongest in the country which resulted in 1,000 more jobs in Colorado.

Producing oil, gas and coal in a responsible manner and expanding our energy portfolio to include renewable sources will help create jobs in the district, protect our economy from global disruptions in the oil market, and promote a cleaner, healthier environment.
