Days Late And More Than A Few Dollars Short

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steven Palazzo (R-MS), Assistant Republican Whip, released the following statement in response to President Obama's fiscal year 2013 budget, announced today:

"The American people have been saying: cut spending, get to work in Washington, and get out of the way of private sector job creators," Palazzo stated. "Today, the president responded -- days late and leaving the taxpayer more than a few dollars short -- with a $3.8 trillion budget including $350 billion-worth of failed stimulus policies, and almost $2 trillion in tax hikes; the largest tax-hike in history. And instead of living up to promises to cut the deficit in half by the end of his term, we're looking at the fourth year in a row of deficit spending of more than a trillion dollars.

Once again, we see a lack of leadership from our commander in chief. Conservatives in the House of Representatives remain serious about passing a workable budget as we did last year, and I call on Democrat leaders in the Senate to do the same."
