Issue Position: Fighting for America's Free-Market Economy

Issue Position

Ted has been on the forefront of preserving economic liberty and prosperity by working to reclaim the Constitution and defeat President Obama's agenda. As the head of the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Center for Tenth Amendment Studies, Ted took a leading national role in fighting for States' rights and against excessive federal regulation:

Authored "Reclaiming the Constitution: Toward an agenda for State Action," which outlined a national strategy for States to fight excessive government regulation and preserve economic freedom;

Pioneered a leading proposal to defeat ObamaCare, restore state authority, and fight federal overreach through interstate compacts;

Met with state legislators and conservative activists from across the nation to help map out a comprehensive strategy to rein in the federal government;

Sued the federal government, on behalf of Texas and four other States, to strike down portions of the Medicare Prescription Drug program as an unconstitutional intrusion in the sovereign authority of the States;

Championed the 10th Amendment, speaking and writing nationally on the virtues of federalism and why excessive regulation and federal government intrusion threaten to destroy America's free-market economy and the American Dream;

As conservative stalwart Senator Mike Lee observed, "Ted is one of our nation's leading defenders of the Tenth Amendment. He is a champion for limiting the power, size, and spending of the federal government."
