Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) released the following statement regarding the Congressional Budget Office's (CBO) annual Budget and Economic Outlook, which projects that the deficit will exceed $1 trillion for a fourth consecutive year. The same report predicts weak economic growth and continued high unemployment.
"The CBO's report affirms that the policies of this Administration have failed. Our nation is in the midst of a serious financial crisis. As a nation we must face these issues with policies that will instill confidence and create certainty for our job creators. We must reign in spending, not threaten to raise taxes on job creators.
"The House passed a budget that cuts spending and encourages economic growth and job creation. It is time for the President and the Senate to join the House in taking action to get the economy back on track. It has been 1,000 days since the Senate passed a budget."
