Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) released the following statement regarding the January jobs report.
"We received some encouraging news today with the release of the January jobs numbers. Any signs of economic recovery are positive steps for our country.
"While today's numbers are encouraging, there is much more work to be done. The unemployment rate is still much too high and unfortunately the long-term unemployment rate has remained steady.
"Our nation's economic revitalization would be occurring at faster pace if the administration was serious about supporting pro-growth initiatives. The administration's burdensome government regulations on businesses, out of control spending, and lack of investment in job creating projects such as the Keystone XL Pipeline are stifling the economic growth our country needs. In addition, the Senate has refused to act on any of the thirty jobs bills that the House has passed.
"I am pleased there is some reason for hope in the unemployment numbers, but I am confident we can do much better if President Obama and the Senate stop standing in the way of businesses and pro-growth initiatives."
