Congressman Edolphus "Ed" Towns (D-NY10) says he is very encouraged by the plan President Barack Obama presented during his recent State of the Union speech and believes he and others in Congress must work to make it happen. "President Obama gave an excellent speech that provided specific ideas about how we are going to get this country back on track," Rep. Towns stated. "Educating and training people are critical to improving the lives of Americans. His idea about focusing on the advantages of community colleges is an excellent beginning."

Congressman Towns believes that he and his colleagues in the House and Senate need to get behind the President and push his policy agenda. "I agree with the President that as we wind down the wars overseas, we devote more resources to nation-building at home," Rep. Towns said. "I also agree with the President that we need a fairer economy where those who have prospered more must do more to invest in our nation's wellbeing."
