Lance Statement on the January Jobs Report

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-7) released the following statement on the January jobs report:

"Today's jobs report is welcome news for so many Americans. Clearly America's job creators are beginning to believe that Congress is finally working together in a bipartisan fashion to help lift the cloak of economic uncertainty and enact measures that will ultimately lead to robust job creation."

"For example, just this week in a bipartisan fashion the House voted to repeal a key plank of the President's health care law -- the CLASS Act -- that was deemed financially unsustainable by both Democrats and Republicans alike.

"Previously the House enacted legislation in support of the Keystone XL pipeline project, a bipartisan plan to create jobs and enhance our energy security. These are just two examples where Congress voted to remove the uncertainty that has plagued the American economy for far too long.

"While an 8.3 percent unemployment rate is still unacceptably high, today's report exceeded expectations by many and is further proof that economic principles put forth by the House of Representatives -- lower taxes, less spending, fewer job-killing regulations and meaningful reductions in debt and deficits -- is providing some economic certainty that America's job creators have craved for a very long time."
