Americans are rightly focused on how to improve our economy. Unemployment is much too high, and we still spend way too much money. The fact that the Senate has not bothered to pass a budget in over 1,000 days is a disgrace, and the President's State of the Union speech this week made clear he is committed to the same failed policies of his first 3 years in office.
However, it is still important to remember the social issues facing our country. Americans have certain inalienable rights; among them is the right to life. It is a national tragedy that in the 39 years since Roe v Wade, over 50 million Americans have been denied that right. I am a strong defender of the unborn because I believe that the measure of a society is how it treats its most vulnerable and every life is sacred. I have voted to defund Planned Parenthood, cosponsored the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act and the Protect Life Act, which would ban federal funding of abortion. Unfortunately, the Democrat controlled Senate and President Obama killed these common sense, bipartisan measures. As long as Roe v Wade is the law of the land, we cannot totally get rid of abortion, but what we absolutely can and must do is make sure that taxpayers are not used to subsidize the abortion industry.
Stay in touch and God bless,
