U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-Dallas), a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement in response to President Obama's rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline construction which would be a 1,700-mile expansion of an existing energy pipeline from Canada to the United States:

"As American families continue to struggle to make ends meet and find work, I am extremely disappointed in President Obama's rejection of the Keystone XL energy pipeline project -- an opportunity to create tens of thousands of new jobs and bring energy security to our nation. Just yesterday, the President's own Jobs Council recommended that he move forward on domestic energy projects that fit the Keystone pipeline's description. Unfortunately, politics prevailed over policy in the President's decision to reject this job-creating project that could help build a brighter future for the American people."
