Cassidy Statement on State of the Union

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. released the following statement in advance of President Obama's State of the Union address.

"In Louisiana, we know what the President should say tonight. He should say he will reconsider his decision on the Keystone XL Pipeline that would immediately create 20,000 direct jobs and over 100,000 indirect American jobs. However, President Obama has had three years to approve Keystone and enact an agenda that will create good paying American jobs, improve the economy and help small businessmen and women across our country. Unfortunately, the President's agenda has not succeeded.

"In addition, Louisiana would benefit from the President promising to support the bi-partisan RESTORE Act ensuring money from the BP oil spill goes to critical coastal restoration efforts and to speed up permitting of OCS drilling."
