Congressman Jeff Duncan Statement on Administration Keystone XL Pipeline Action

Statement

Date: Jan. 18, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

"Once again, this Administration has sided with the environmental extremists rather than the American people. Instead of allowing a pipeline that would ease prices at the pump, create a hundred thousand jobs, and help reinforce good relations with our neighbor to the north, this President has again sided with his far-left donors and Occupy political base. This is an outrage against American workers, American job creators, and American drivers. That this oil will be sold to China instead of American consumers who will need to continue to rely on Middle Eastern and Venezuelan oil is equally outrageous.

"Today's action once again shows that you can be an environmental extremist or you can be for creating jobs. Those two camps are mutually exclusive. In his statement, the President notes his "commitment to ending our dependence on oil," which places him firmly in the camp of the extremists and not the job creators. Meanwhile, this President continues the failed crony capitalist policies of giving taxpayer dollars to bankrupt "green" companies like Solyndra who donate to his campaign.

"My colleagues and I will continue to press for solutions that allow our country to achieve energy independence. We will do everything we can to stop this Administration's extreme regulations that kill American jobs in the oil, gas, and coal industries by a thousand cuts. The failed policies of this President push up gas prices at the pump, and electricity prices in our homes and businesses. I will continue to do everything possible to promote solutions for American energy security and independence."
