Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee Connie Mack (FL-14) today responded to news that the Obama administration will spend $70 million to fight climate change in Mexico. US Ambassador to Mexico Anthony Wayne announced the agreement yesterday between the US Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico.

Mack said: "This is beyond outrageous. The insurgency in Mexico is claiming thousands of lives, spilling across our border, and this Administration wants to spend $70 million to fight climate change? How can the President's priorities be this out of whack? We must secure the border and secure it now."

Chairman Mack has introduced H.R. 3401, the Enhanced Border Security Act, to secure the border and counter the terrorist insurgency in Mexico.
