Congressman Brian Bilbray (CA-50) today issued the following statement in response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address:
"The president covered a lot of issues during the State of the Union address, but the two priorities that I hear the most from San Diego residents are jobs and federal spending. One-in-10 San Diegans are unemployed and the federal government borrows 42 cents out of every dollar it spends. Too many San Diegans remain unemployed or live in daily fear of losing their jobs. To date, the House of Representatives has passed over 33 bills to make it easier for the private sector to create jobs. Unfortunately, the President has only signed six of those bills into law; and it has been 1,000 days since the U.S. Senate passed a budget. Washington needs to put politics aside and work together on an economic plan that benefits and unites all Americans, not divide us."
