Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) today released the following statement in response to President Obama's announcement he will take actions to increase tourism and travel in the United States as part of his jobs initiative.

"I applaud the administration for focusing on tourism," said Sanchez. "After all, the tourism industry employs thousands of folks in my district and in Orange County, which is home to Disneyland and numerous other theme parks and attractions.

"Commerce and Interior will lead the creation of an inter-agency force tasked with the creation of a national travel and tourism strategy. I am pleased to see this task force will work closely with the tourism industry and look forward to reviewing their findings.

"As a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security, I'm glad to hear the TSA Pre-Check pilot program will expand under the President's plan. This concept has now been expanded to LAX in my home state of California.

"I commend the President for his attention to tourism and support any initiative that will keep my district the happiest place on earth."
