Cassidy Statement on Payroll Tax Credit Extension

Statement

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D., released the following statement regarding recent Congressional actions to extend the current payroll tax credit for two months.

"Although I agree with tax relief for the middle class, I disagree with the way the Senate paid for this relief and the two-month duration of the bill. Speaker Boehner decided the Senate version was acceptable once the Senate decreased the accounting burden on small business owners. I am pleased this burden was decreased but I still oppose the means of paying and the short duration."
