Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (IL-06) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released the December jobs report showing the national unemployment rate is 8.5%:
"Any increase in jobs is good news for our economy, but unfortunately, for many Americans it's too little too late. Nearly three years after the "stimulus" passed, millions are still out of work, small businesses lack certainty, and unemployment is still above 8 percent - higher than the Administration promised it would ever rise to with the "stimulus."
Yet while the House has passed many bipartisan solutions that would create jobs, the Senate still refuses to act. Imagine how much better our economy would be if the House-passed 28 jobs bills of the last year became law tomorrow. Americans can't wait for the Senate to act on commonsense policies that remove barriers to real economic growth in 2012."
