I was very pleased with the Supreme Court's ruling yesterday in favor of protecting religious freedoms in the case of Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC. As Chief Justice Roberts noted, the Free Exercise clause of the First Amendment and the Establishment clause protect the right of religious groups to determine their own ministers without government interference.
As the Panama City News-Herald noted, "Too often, the First Amendment is viewed as protecting the public from the exercise of religion. It is reassuring to see all nine justices uphold the founding principle that the Constitution protects our religious freedoms from being infringed by government." I couldn't agree more.
