Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives formally requested a conference to reconcile differences with the Senate over a payroll tax cut extension for 2012:
"Americans want and deserve the certainty of a year-long tax break -- not the maybe you'll get it, maybe you won't approach taken by Senate Democrats. While I am still hopeful we will get this important issue resolved soon, it's simply irresponsible to keep kicking the can down the road. Unfortunately, Senator Reid is ignoring the Constitution and the Senate's own rules of procedure, which call for a conference committee to resolve the differences between bills passed in the House and Senate. Let's do what's best for 160 million working Americans -- give them a significant tax cut for all of next year, not for just part of it."
