Today Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-36) voted to extend important legislation that benefits millions of American families. Unfortunately the Republican Majority in the House voted down a bipartisan compromise that would have extended the payroll tax cuts, unemployment benefits and the Medicare "Doc" fix till the end of February.
"During this holiday season, at a time when people are hurting and families are in need, I supported a bipartisan compromise to extend unemployment insurance benefits, cut taxes for middle class families and ensure that those on Medicare can continue to see their doctors," said Hahn.
"A short-time fix is better than the alternative -- doing nothing -- and then arguing about it," explained Hahn. "The consequences of inaction are very real. If we do nothing 160 million Americans will face a $1,000 tax increase and 356,000 Californians will confront the end of the unemployment insurance benefits that are helping put food on the table.
