Today Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon voted for the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act, which passed the House 234 to 193. This bill will extend the payroll tax cut, extend and reform the unemployment insurance program and protect the Social Security Trust Fund. The bill also includes important measures to help the private sector create more jobs. In addition to fast tracking consideration of the Keystone energy pipeline and stopping onerous government regulations, the legislation will extend the expensing of business investment, a bipartisan provision included in President Obama's plan.
"The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act is a reasonable and responsible bill that will help provide relief to our hard-working middle class and our country's job creators, both of whom are struggling in these tough economic times.
"Today the House has passed yet another jobs bill that will help American families and job creators. While the President chooses to take to the podium and talk about job creation, the House continues to take decided action to get America working again. I urge the Senate to take up this bill, along with the 20 plus other jobs bills passed by the House, and send them to the President for his signature. As the President himself has said, America can't wait."
