U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3010, the Regulatory Accountability Act:
"Today we learned that our country's unemployment rate remains unacceptably high. H.R. 3010, the Regulatory Accountability Act, now joins more than 20 bipartisan bills passed by the House and designed to help Americans looking for work by growing the economy. These measures await action in the Senate. This important legislation requires agencies to assess the costs and benefits of alternatives to planned mandates and provides more notice to the public regarding proposed rulemaking. H.R. 3010 demands much needed transparency and accountability in the making of government regulation and requires agencies to do a better job of determining whether new rules are needed. I encourage the Senate to take up this common sense legislation to help alleviate the choking effect Washington's onslaught of red tape has on America's job creators."
