U.S. Rep. Tom Marino, PA-10, issued this statement following the passage of HR3630, the Middle Class Tax Relief & Job Creation Act. The House passed the bill by a 234-193 vote.
"Today, the House of Representatives approved a bill that would extend payroll tax relief for hard-working Americans, protect access to physicians for seniors, and extend and reform unemployment benefits without adding to the debt.
"Additionally, the bill contains a number of provisions that eliminate bureaucratic red tape and advances the Keystone Pipeline which will result in thousands of union-scale jobs for Americans.
"I am pleased that we were able to do so with a common-sense approach and one that adheres to my belief that we must stop spending money that we do not have.
"I am glad that the House has taken the first step to keeping taxes low on hard-working Americans, but it is now time for President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to show the American people that they are serious about addressing the nation's economic problems. The millions of Americans looking for work and struggling to feed their families cannot continue to wait for the Senate and president to act."
