Sullivan Votes to Protect Oklahoma Farmers and Ranchers

Statement

Date: Nov. 30, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman John Sullivan issued the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed H.R. 1633, the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011. This legislation would provide immediate relief and much needed regulatory certainty to farmers and ranchers across the country by protecting them from unnecessary over-regulation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). H.R. 1633 has over 100 bipartisan cosponsors in the House of Representatives.

"This bill passed by the committee today provides much needed relief and regulatory certainty to farmers, ranchers, and small business owners in Oklahoma and throughout the country. I was proud to support this common sense approach to preventing the EPA from imposing more stringent federal dust standards in rural America while still maintaining the protections of the Clean Air Act to the public's health and welfare."

"Further regulation of dust by EPA would unnecessarily threaten to put farmers, ranchers, and other agribusinesses out of work. At a time when over 14 million Americans are out of work, our economy cannot afford more job losses."
