Today, Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) voted for the REINS Act (H.R. 10). The REINS Act will require Congress to take an up-or-down vote on regulations that have an economic impact of $100 million or more before they can be forced on the American people and businesses. Rep. Farenthold had the following comments:
"To create jobs we must break down barriers that hinder businesses from growth. The REINS Act reins in government agencies, like the EPA, and will bring rationality to the regulatory process. Now, as the Founding Fathers intended, Congress will have the power decide which rules are good for the country and which rules are not."
The REINS Act is just one part of the House Republicans plan for growth that will streamline the tax code, curb Washington's addiction to spending, reduce unnecessary regulations and put Americans back to work.
