Congressman Steve Chabot (R-OH), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia, released the following statement today after the rocket fire attack on Israel originating in Southern Lebanon.
"I am deeply disturbed by the recent Katyusha rocket fire on Israel originating from Southern Lebanon. This is a serious violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and the Lebanese Armed Forces must act decisively to prevent incidents such as this. I once again call on the Government of Lebanon to take all necessary measures to secure its borders and assert control over Lebanese sovereign territory. This, along with support for and funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1757, is a crucial Lebanese international legal obligations and will be a key factor in determining future relations between the United States and Lebanon."
