Today, Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY 25) was appointed by Speaker John Boehner to serve as a conferee for the FY2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). As an outside conferee, Buerkle will join members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees in deliberating the contents of the NDAA.
"I am pleased to have been selected by Speaker Boehner to serve as a conferee for the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2012. As a conferee I will have the opportunity to advocate for defense-related initiatives that are essential to protecting our country and supporting our men and women in uniform," said Rep. Buerkle.
"Being a part of the discussion will ensure that the voices of Upstate New Yorkers, including those of defense companies, military bases, and veterans in my district, will be heard during the negotiation process."
"I thank Speaker Boehner for the honor of being named a conferee. I look forward to working with my House and Senate colleagues to pass a fiscally responsible bill that meets the needs of our military and its personnel."
