U.S. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, M.D., (NY-19) released the following statement today in commeration of Veterans Day:
"Today we formally honor the men and women of our Armed Forces who have answered the call to protect our country and to defend freedom around the world. Our veterans and their families have made the most profound possible contribution to our national life. Their service and sacrifice are an inspiration to every American.
"As the daughter of two World War II veterans, I am privileged to carry out our country's commitment to our veterans from every conflict, including those returning home with wounds sustained in the ongoing global war on terror. Our Hudson Valley VA campuses, Montrose and Castle Point, are vitally important to our veterans, and they have developed particular strengths in treating traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. I have introduced legislation to assure that these places of healing, serving ever-greater needs within our communities, are dedicated exclusively to providing our veterans with the care and support they deserve.
"On this Veterans Day, I join a deeply grateful nation in thanking our veterans for all they have done to defend our nation and protect our most fundamental right to be free."
