Blackburn Disappointed With House Failure To Pass A Balanced Budget Amendment

Statement

Date: Nov. 18, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) issued the following statement on today's vote in the House of Representatives on a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.

"It is disappointing that Democrats in Congress continue to ignore the will of the hard-working taxpayers. The American people know that the out-of-control spending in Washington is killing job creation and economic growth. With our national debt now topping $15 trillion, the Obama economy is stifling the ability of small businesses and hard-working taxpayers to achieve their goals and dreams.

"We need a permanent solution to the fiscal problems that are plaguing this economy. The clear and common sense solution is a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. We can't wait to replace Washington's blank check with the checks and balances necessary to provide true fiscal responsibility. I will continue to push for a Balanced Budget Amendment to rein in wasteful Washington spending and stop the madness."
