Rep. Becerra Votes Against Republican Deregulation Bill

Statement

Date: Dec. 7, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today, the House of Representatives voted on legislation (H.R. 10) that would undermine the ability of executive agencies to provide essential regulatory protections to Americans. Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, voted against the bill and released the following statement:

"After nearly a year of doing nothing to create jobs for working class Americans, Republicans in Congress seem intent on pursuing the same agenda that drove us into this economic mess in the first place--deregulation and lax government oversight. We can't keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

The clock is ticking. It's time to get our priorities straight. It's time to take immediate action on President Obama's payroll tax cut for 160 million middle class working Americans."
