Gov. Jack Dalrymple today directed all state government agencies and encouraged all North Dakotans to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Wednesday, December 7 in honor of those who lost their lives serving this nation at Pearl Harbor. The Governor's directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued by the President designating December 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
"As we mark the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, we honor the more than 3,500 Americans who were killed or wounded on that solemn day, and recognize the veterans who, with courage and perseverance, changed the course of history during World War II," Dalrymple said. "When it mattered most, an entire generation of patriots stepped forward to secure our way of life, driven by the heroism and resolve that defined that fateful day at Pearl Harbor."
