House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to the November unemployment report.
"Month after month we continue to see unemployment remain unacceptably high," said Chairman Price. "Millions of our fellow Americans are struggling to find work, which is why House Republicans continue to put forth positive solutions to get Washington off the backs of job creators and out of the way. The Democrat-led, Do Nothing Senate is sitting on over twenty House-passed, bipartisan proposals that embrace the American spirit of free enterprise, encourage investment, innovation, and economic growth. These are proposals that would expand opportunity for capital investment in the private sector, increase the production of American-made energy and the jobs that go along with it, cut through the regulatory red tape, and get our fiscal house in order. And yet we see very little interest or urgency on the part of our Senate Democrat colleagues or the president to put politics aside and focus on good policy.
"House Republicans remain ready and willing to tackle these tough issues, and jobs is the number one priority. Americans are, by their very nature, an optimistic people; and we should be encouraging that optimism and the ingenuity that goes along with it -- not tearing it down with rhetoric that divides us and senseless partisan exercises. For eleven months our focus has been on lifting the crushing burden of debt on our economy, breaking down barriers to job creation, and ensuring that individuals and businesses keep more of their hard earned money. President Obama and his colleagues in the Senate should work with us to solve these challenges."
