Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, was recognized as one of just 46 "True Blue" Members of Congress by FRC Action and CitizenLink for his unwavering commitment and consistent support in defense of life and the family. Huizenga was one of just 46 Representatives of the 112th Congress who scored a perfect 100 percent.

The award honors Members of Congress who have exhibited extraordinary leadership and commitment to the defense of family, faith, and freedom, according to FRC Action's scorecard covering the votes of the First Session of the 112th Congress. Recipients of the "True Blue" Award voted consistently for pro-life and pro-family issues.

"I strongly believe in the sanctity of life, and that unborn children at any stage of development are granted the right to life. I am honored to be recognized by FRC Action, and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure Congress is working to protect life, freedom, and the traditional family," Huizenga said.

Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins said of the "True Blue' Award Winners, "We thank those Members of Congress who have voted consistently to defend faith, family and freedom. These 'True Blue Members' have voted to repeal Obamacare, defund Planned Parenthood, end government funding for abortion within the health care law, uphold the Defense of Marriage Act and continue support for school choice. I applaud their commitment to uphold the institutions of marriage and family."

Votes that were scored included:

* Repealing the Health Care Law
* Defunding Planned Parenthood
* D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program
* No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
* Protecting the Defense of Marriage Act within the Military
* Presidential Nominations Act

Huizenga is a member of the Bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus and has served as his church's representative to Michigan Right to Life for more than a decade, and his family has worked with various crisis centers throughout the 2nd District.
