Congressman Cantor Supports Small Business Saturday

Statement

Date: Nov. 25, 2011
Location: Richmond, VA

Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) released the following statement in support of Small Business Saturday, a national initiative to encourage people across the country to support their local, independently-owned businesses. Small businesses are the driving force of the economy and create 70 percent of the jobs in America.

"This weekend, as families spend time together, I encourage everyone to support Small Business Saturday. Small businessmen and women represent the best of what is possible in our country. They take risks, boost our local economies, and create high quality jobs. Right now, many small business owners are facing obstacles that are preventing them from expanding and hiring. I will continue to work to remove these barriers and make sure that small businesses in my home state of Virginia, and across the country, have more opportunity to grow so that people can get back to work."

Next week, the House will vote on several jobs bills, including H.R. 527, The Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act, to ensure that government regulations don't stand in the way of small business job growth.
