Statement on Supreme Court Decision to Review ObamaCare Lawsuit

Statement

Date: Nov. 16, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Rob Woodall (R-GA) issued the following statement on the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to review a lawsuit brought by 26 states and the National Federation of Independent Businesses questioning the constitutionality of President Barack Obama's health care law.

"This case is critical to our nation. I expect the Supreme Court will rule that it is unconstitutional for the Obama Administration to force Americans to purchase government-approved health insurance. Such a ruling will uphold our Founding Fathers' commitment to limited federal government and personal freedom. President Obama, by way of his healthcare legislation, is asking the Supreme Court to broaden the definition of "interstate commerce' to allow future Congresses to regulate absolutely everyone and everything in America. While I expect that the Supreme Court will decide on the side of freedom, I am comforted to know that irrespective of the Court's decision, the American people will have the final word in the election next November."
