Congressman David Rivera (FL-25) released the following statement on the October jobs report released today.
"Today the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced a nine percent unemployment rate for the month of October, making it 33 uninterrupted months where the unemployment level has been at or above eight percent.
"While 14 million Americans remained unemployed in October, President Obama toured the country promoting his jobs plan, a plan that the Democrat-led Senate has rejected more than once.
"House Republicans have worked to find common ground with the White House and Senate Democrats to put Americans back to work. In the House we have passed more than 15 bills that will empower America's job creators and get our economy back on track. These bills enjoyed bipartisan support in the House, and many of them have been supported by the Obama Administration. Yet, the President continues to chastise House Republicans on job creation.
"Mr. President, 14 million unemployed American's can't wait for Senate Democrats to take action on the growing number of jobs bills stacking up on the Senate's doorstep. The House is working to strengthen our economy and encourage growth and hiring. It's time for the White House and the Senate to do the same."
