Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted for the "National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011".

"I have always been a firm supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and the passage of this legislation allows licensed firearm owners to carry out their God-given right more freely. The right to carry a firearm is a right that allows law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and is crucial to the freedom of our country," Fleischmann said.

This bill allows any person with a valid state-issued concealed firearm permit to carry a concealed firearm in any state that issues concealed firearm permits or that does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms. The bill makes no changes to any state's laws on where concealed firearms may be carried within its borders; does not create a federal licensing system; and does not establish a minimum federal standard for a carry permit. Instead, it requires states to recognize each others' carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses.
