Cicilline Statement on Bank of America's Decision Not to Charge Debit Card Fees

Statement

Date: Nov. 1, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) issued the following statement regarding Bank of America's recent decision not to charge debit card fees:

"The decision by some of our nation's largest banks to charge for debit card use was a bad idea, and that is why I introduced legislation to prevent the assessment of these fees. I am delighted that these same banks now realize this policy was misguided, and have decided not to impose these fees. This is a victory for all banking customers."
