Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25) issued the following statement today after 13 Americans and 4 Afghans were killed when a suicide bomber attacked a NATO armored bus in Afghanistan.
"Today, the United States and our Afghan allies suffered one of the worst single-day losses of life since the war in Afghanistan began," said Buerkle.
"This tragic event is a painful reminder of the price of freedom and the sacrifice and commitment of the men and women in our armed forces who risk their lives every day for the cause of freedom. We are reminded not only of their extraordinary courage and bravery, but also of the ongoing threat facing freedom around the world."
"I join all Americans in mourning the loss of these selfless heroes and will keep them and their families in my thoughts and prayers. Their lives and service are an inspiration, and we honor them through a renewed commitment to the ideals they fought to protect."
