Whitehouse Applauds Senate Passage of Bill to Boost Jobs for Veterans

Statement

U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse released the statement below today following the Senate's approval of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011, which will help our veterans find jobs after returning from active duty.

"Since September 11th, our military servicemen and women have faced huge demands, and have risen to every challenge. Yet, for too long, unemployment has been disproportionately high among our veterans. This legislation will help reverse that trend by providing tax credits for businesses that hire our veterans, and by improving job training for servicemembers. It's an important first step, and a fitting way to honor our troops as we prepare to celebrate Veterans Day."

Whitehouse was a cosponsor of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act.
