Congressman Steve Chabot Reacts to Delay of Keystone XL Oil Pipeline

Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Steve Chabot issued the following response in reaction to the White House's announcement yesterday to delay its decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline until after next year's election.

"President Obama is once again playing politics with American jobs," Rep. Chabot said. "The Keystone XL oil pipeline is a $7 billion project that will bring much needed jobs to communities all along its 1,700 mile route. The environmental concerns that have been raised should not be disregarded, however this is a project that can be accomplished in an environmentally safe manner. This is exactly the type of project we should be promoting in getting Americans back to work. Instead President Obama is making this a political issue, putting it off until after the 2012 election."
