Long Statement on October Jobs Report

Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Congressman Billy Long released the following statement in response to the October Jobs Report. The economy created 80,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate is 9%.

"Another disappointing jobs report and another reflection of President Obama's failed policies. This President and this Senate would rather campaign and play politics instead of putting forth common-sense ideas that will create jobs."

"The Republicans in the House of Representatives know that we can't wait until the next election to get people back to work. That is why have passed more than 20 jobs bills that will create jobs right away. Unfortunately, those bills are stuck in the graveyard of the Senate"

"28 out of the last 30 months have seen unemployment at 9 percent or higher. 14 million Americans are out of work. 4 million Americans have been out of work for over a year. We don't have time to wait. It is time to put people before politics and progress before partisanship. We need to make the U.S. the best place in the world to run a business again."
