Price Statement on October Jobs Report

Location: Washington, DC

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to the October Jobs Report. The economy created 80,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate is 9%.

"Last month President Obama spent much of his time campaigning on his so-called jobs plan -- a plan the Democrat-led Senate has now rejected in part or in its entirety three times. Still, unemployment remains unacceptably high and confidence among Americans dismally low. This is why House Republicans have not waited and continue to advance bipartisan legislation to encourage job creators," said Chairman Price. "To date, we have passed more than 20 bills specifically aimed at improving the environment for small businesses to grow and hire. Each of these bills awaits action in the Senate.

"For eleven months now House Republicans have ensured that legislation sent to the Senate is focused on helping job creators and instilling confidence in the economy. It is long overdue for President Obama and Democrats in the Senate to work with us in these efforts. Non-action at this point is becoming deceitful."
